Who we are
Institutional Retirement is the only insurer to have been operating continuously in the UK market from our entrance in 1987 to the present day. Our UK retirement annuity book stands at an estimated £86.1 billion at 31 December 2023.
Across our retail and institutional retirement businesses, we look after more than 1 million customers, around c.700,000 of whom are institutional customers who have had their retirement benefits secured with us.
We’re looking for an Operations Manager to join our Institutional Retirement Finance team. This is a pivotal role focused on planning, coordination, and delivery across complex reporting processes. If you thrive on organising, prioritising, and driving results in a large corporate environment, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
You won’t be crunching numbers or producing accounts – this is about operational delivery. You’ll bring structure, clarity, and momentum to critical activities, ensuring teams stay on track and outcomes are achieved.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading planning and prioritisation of reporting activities across multiple teams
- Coordinating delivery plans and monitoring progress to keep projects on track
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across Institutional Retirement and Group functions
- Driving governance and escalation processes to manage risks and compliance
- Facilitating timely flow of data and information through effective supplier oversight
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and embedding best practices
- Supporting operational readiness for new business transactions and change initiatives
- Acting as a visible point of contact across the business to align priorities and resolve blockers
Who we're looking for:
- Proven experience in project or operations management within large organisations
- Strong organisational skills – a true “completer-finisher” who keeps things moving
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple teams
- Ability to navigate complex corporate structures and gain alignment on priorities
- Experience in financial services or similar regulated environments desirable
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and driving clarity through structured planning
- Highly proactive, resilient, and confident in managing competing priorities
- Professional qualifications in project management or equivalent experience advantageous
