At L&G, our summer internship programme brings together students from a wide range of backgrounds, disciplines and aspirations.

We spoke with several of our 2025 summer interns to find out what their experience has really been like, from day one to what they’re looking forward to most.

If you're considering a summer internship at L&G, here’s what you can expect:

How did you hear about L&G, and what inspired you to apply for a summer internship?

Peter Brennan discovered L&G through LinkedIn. “I was inspired by L&G's strong reputation in responsible investing and a people-first culture. That motivated me to apply for a summer internship on the Asset Management team.”

For Adam Grosfils, Finance Intern, location initially drew him in. “But once I looked deeper, I realised the culture and values made it the ideal place to explore finance during a summer internship.”

How was your induction experience?

The overwhelming consensus? Welcoming, engaging, and inspiring.

Sehr Sattar described the induction as “insightful and engaging. Hearing career stories from senior leaders made me feel motivated and excited about the journey ahead.”

For Aarav Somani, “It was a great way to understand how different teams collaborate – it gave me a big-picture view beyond just my role in Credit Ratings.”

What are you most excited about during your summer internship?

Patrick Smith, Actuarial intern, is looking forward to presenting at the end of the programme. “It’s a great chance to sharpen my communication skills and showcase what I’ve learned.”

Sehr Sattar, Finance intern wants to learn “how professionals collaborate and how my role fits into the bigger picture. Being part of this team will give me a clearer idea of the challenges and rewards of a career in finance.”

What skills and knowledge are you hoping to gain?

Olivia Bracey-Davis hopes to “improve her understanding of financial markets and gain confidence in presenting to senior colleagues.”

For Aarav Somani, the focus is on data analytics. “I’m looking to deepen my skills in automation and programming while learning from others in the team.”

What has been your favourite part of this internship?

Esther Colaco, Actuarial Intern has enjoyed “meeting people from different teams and learning how their work connects to the PRT team. It's really interesting to see how everything fits together, from pricing and reinsurance to investments and legal, and it's given me a much clearer picture of how a deal comes together.”

For Anisah Kauser, Data Analytics, “my favourite part of the internship has been working in a team that maintains good communication, having a supportive manager and getting to code. People are friendly, supportive, and always willing to go the extra mile to help you.”

How do you hope this experience supports your long-term career goals?

Peter Brennan summed it up well: “I want to leave this internship with a clearer view of where I want to specialise. Ideally, this experience will help me secure a full-time role on the Investments team.”

Patrick Smith added, “This is an amazing first step towards becoming an actuary. I'm getting exposure to how theory is applied in real-world decisions.”

How would you describe the work culture at L&G?

“Supportive, understanding, collaborative, and welcoming,” said Peter Brennan. “Everyone I’ve met has been so nice and willing to help.”

Sehr Sattar praised the focus on learning and openness. “No question feels too small. It’s clear that personal development is encouraged at every level.”
