Who we are 

Institutional Retirement is the only insurer to have been operating continuously in the UK market from our entrance in 1987 to the present day. Our UK retirement annuity book stands at an estimated £86.1 billion at 31 December 2023. 

Across our retail and institutional retirement businesses, we look after more than 1 million customers, around c.700,000 of whom are institutional customers who have had their retirement benefits secured with us.

As part of our graduate scheme, you will rotate through different business areas to build up a breadth of knowledge and become a well-rounded professional. By the end of the programme, you’ll have the skills, experience, and qualifications to take on a permanent role in our investment management business and shape the future of investment with us.

What you’ll be doing

• Completing three rotations across different teams to gain a broad perspective and diverse skill set
• Exploring areas such as Portfolio Management, Investment Strategy, Core Capital, Asset and Liquidity Management, and Public Investments
• Developing investment strategies that help secure financial futures for generations to come
• Managing multi-billion-pound portfolios within our Institutional Retirement business
• Analysing market trends and contributing to strategic investment decisions
• Collaborating with colleagues across teams to deliver innovative solutions
• Building technical knowledge and professional qualifications to support long-term career growth

Who we’re looking for:

First and foremost, we are looking for graduates with an inquisitive mind and a desire to learn. We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include: 

• Achieved 2.1 Degree in any subject – we are open to all subject backgrounds 

• B in A Level Maths 

• Curious, motivated and have a desire to learn more about a career in Investment Management 

• Analytical mind-set 

• Great communication skills 

• Flexible and a team-player 

• High levels of energy, dynamism and commitment 

• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively
