Who we are 

Institutional Retirement is the only insurer to have been operating continuously in the UK market from our entrance in 1987 to the present day. Our UK retirement annuity book stands at an estimated £86.1 billion at 31 December 2023. 

Across our retail and institutional retirement businesses, we look after more than 1 million customers, around c.700,000 of whom are institutional customers who have had their retirement benefits secured with us. 

We are seeking a Technical Scrum Master to join our Cloud Engineering function, supporting the delivery of cloud and infrastructure capabilities across product and programme teams. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in shaping and maintaining a growing backlog of shared services, while working closely with engineering teams to drive high-quality, business-aligned outcomes.

What you'll be doing:

• Capturing and translating stakeholder requirements into clear, deliverable outcomes 
• Developing well-defined user stories and scope to ensure work is ready for delivery 
• Managing and maintaining a backlog of cloud and infrastructure capabilities aligned to business priorities
• Assessing capacity against demand and supporting planning, estimation and prioritisation 
• Facilitating Agile ceremonies and promoting best practice across engineering teams 
• Identifying dependencies and removing impediments to maintain delivery flow 
• Supporting continuous improvement by introducing reusable capabilities across teams 
• Ensuring delivery meets quality standards and contributes to strong business outcomes

Who we're looking for:

• Experience working as a Scrum Master, ideally within technical or engineering environments
• Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices, with experience running Agile ceremonies 
• Technical background or proven experience working closely with engineering teams and understanding technical concepts 
• Exposure to cloud and infrastructure environments such as Azure, AWS or GCP 
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
• Confidence working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities and demands 
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance delivery and planning
• Agile or Scrum certification (desirable) with a commitment to continuous learning
