Job Description

Innovation through the effective adoption of technology and data is a key driver of LGIMs investment capability. The role is to lead a distinct function within Investments focusing on Investment technology strategy, through representing Investments in strategic technology projects, developing tactical solutions, and acting as a subject matter expert for technology and data related matters. Work alongside the Investment heads and their teams as well as enterprise Technology, Data, and Operations functions to formulate and implement technology solutions to support Investments’ strategic growth initiatives which aim to create efficiencies and maximize profitable growth within appropriate risk and compliance controls.

The role is expected to embed a culture of collaboration and excellence across key stakeholders, with a view to driving the best technology and data outcomes for clients and LGIMs investment community.

Technology & Data Strategy

  • Lead the Investment Technology & Data function, define and implement a strategy that drives innovation within the investment process
  • Work globally with partners across Investments, Technology, Data, and Operations to formulate and implement technology and data solutions to support Investments.
  • Work effectively with other senior colleagues to achieve financial and non-financial business objectives through the implementation of new technology and data solutions.  
  • Provide senior-level leadership for teams supporting the various Investment teams; represent Investments on technology steering committees, providing leadership and strategic direction for all technology initiatives.
  • Work in partnership with LGIMs Chief Technology Officer and Chief Data Officer to ensure Investments’ influence on LGIMs overall strategic direction with respect to Technology and Data
  • Research investment and technology trends which can further develop the Investment Management functions of LGIM.

Strategic Target Operating Model (STOM) & Strategic Partnerships

  • Lead Investments engagement with third party platform providers (Charles River) with respect to Technology & Data, ensuring positive outcomes and practices
  • Be the chief product owner and business leader for proprietary and strategic front office systems
  • Support the business in resolving macro prioritisation conflicts or identifying where macro prioritisation is required
  • Ensure the engagement model on the ground through the Product Owners is effective in translating business priorities and requirements into the delivery streams

Tactical Technology

  • Lead the development of tactical technology solutions to support business growth and client engagement initiatives, ensuring adoption of best practices and consistency in delivery.
  • Engage with enterprise Engineering to ensure tactical solutions are leveraging strategic technology where possible and to establish “best practices” as it pertains to tactical applications and end-user computing tools.

Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure all Investment technology is built within appropriate risk and compliance controls.
  • Ensure that Investments Data consumption and practices adheres to LGIMs Data Standards

 Global

  • Ensure a global approach for all Investments technology, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure consistency of approach where possible.

Must be able to demonstrate a collaborative approach with other teams to establish the appropriate approach to projects.

Is credible, respected and recognised as a leader in investment technology. Able to demonstrate how that profile has been leveraged for the benefit of the company.

Highly developed relationship and stakeholder management skills:

  • A track record of constructively and credibly interacting with Investment teams to understand their requirements and deliver upon them in a positive manner.
  • A track record of constructively and credibly interacting with teams outside of Investments to ensure all parties work together to successfully deliver strategic technology requirements.

Able to define, develop, articulate and deploy both a compelling and innovative strategic vision for an integrated global investments technology solution.

Strategic conceptual and collaborative thinker who is able to easily translate strategy into deliverable solutions with the ability to clearly articulate their thoughts and ideas in a logical manner.

Sound, proven, business and commercial judgmental skills.

Excellent awareness of current and emerging technology trends and practices across all sectors with particular emphasis on software engineering.

Highly developed presentation skills to provide credible succinct and meaningful articulation of complex information to Senior Executives and Boards.


Qualifications

University degree in a technology, numerical or business-related field, or equivalent experience

Deep technology skills developed in an asset management or similar financial services background.

Excellent knowledge of the investment management process, instruments, trade strategies, and risk analytics requirements.

Outstanding knowledge of Investments technology systems, their inter-relationships with each other and dependencies.

Must have worked in the Financial Sector in a comparable role or have a proven track record in the role’s core competencies.

Track record of designing, building and developing Investments technology solutions within a global environment.

Track record of implementing significant organisational change through the adoption of new technology.
