Job Description
We’re recruiting for a Technical Pricing Actuary to join our Workplace Savings Business. If you are a nearly/newly qualified actuary who enjoys project-based work and has both a technical mindset and a commercial outlook, then this might just be the role for you.
In this role you will support the Lead Technical Pricing Actuary in the continuous development of the Workplace pricing ecosystem, alongside providing subject matter expertise on illustrations and commercials to the wider Workplace and Retail Savings teams.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the continuous development of the technical pricing ecosystem, including assumptions, model code changes and testing. Which will include new features and functionality to support; regulatory, business and commercial changes/opportunities for both generic and bespoke pricing.
- Leading on recommendations for model updates and supporting the pricing team to implement these updates efficiently and effectively.
- Supporting the delivery of fund launches and updates to new and existing funds (both growth rates and charges) which are aligned with product and client driven demand.
- Acting as a subject matter expert in the calculation and methodology used for member illustrations, by providing accurate and rapid technical responses and insight into illustration queries from either customers or business users with sufficient detail and clarity.
- Assisting with the updating of internal reports and policies. Some of these policies include internal requirements to document and update Excel (including VBA) and testing spreadsheets to comply with the internal model dictionaries and Pricing and Computing Standards.
- Supporting commercial assessments/insights on strategic initiatives, developments, rollouts and the ongoing maintenance of Workplace Savings and Retail Savings, including data insights.
- Utilising commercial insights for the identification and improvement of data richness as well as trend analysis for price optimisation and operational improvements for the Workplace Savings Operational Pricing team.
- Providing general and strategic actuarial insight and oversight to the Operational Pricing team, Lead Technical Pricing Actuary, Commercial Director and Workplace Pension and Retail Savings businesses, including change projects and supporting with the assessment of ad-hoc commercial decisions.
Qualifications
Who we’re looking for:
- Nearly/Newly Qualified Actuary
- Previous pricing experience would be highly advantageous, but is not essential
- Ability to think and act strategically and commercially
- Ability to apply actuarial techniques, principles and methods to solve complex problems
- Ability to oversee complex actuarial calculations and interpret results for others, and challenge the validation and analysis of data when appropriate
- Strong process management skills with the ability to influence peers/stakeholders
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of assumption setting methodologies and the impacts that these have on reported results
- An understanding of UK accounting standards for statutory, Solvency II and IFRS reporting
