We are currently recruiting a Technical Lead who will join our Software Delivery team. The role holder will use their skills and experience to guide the team of engineers, whilst also being hands on in their contribution to work of the team. The ideal candidate act as Technical Authority and expert in order to contribute to strategic decision-making both within the team and across multiple teams, ensuring high quality, high value software reaches our customers.
What you'll be doing:
- Partnering with other Technical Leaders to build long-term strategies to guide continued product quality, security, performance, observability and maintainability goals across Group Technology development teams, to ensure that we are delivering great outcomes to our customers as effectively as we can.
- Being a Technical Authority within a team and across multiple teams to address complex coding and engineering issues in an efficient way that will bring long-term benefit to the company and our customers.
- Creating software which can be quickly and easily iterated upon in the future so that the Company can deliver high quality features to the market as early as possible. Ensure the solutions developed and deployed are fit for purpose, provide appropriate business value, adhere to quality standards and align to standard engineering practices.
- Coordinating and taking ownership of technical work across multiple development teams to reduce duplication, improve team collaboration and provide clarity on progress, so that we deliver cross-cutting concerns as smoothly as possible.
- Undertaking continuous research on relevant technologies and identify and implement opportunities to incorporate those as appropriate. Apply your knowledge of technology options and survey external market landscape for solution insights, direction, and vendors, as required so that our applications stay up-to-date, relevant and efficient and deliver value to the business and the end-user.
- Undertaking analysis of technology solution alternatives with associated benefits, costs, and risks; to conduct gap analysis, with proof of concepts for new solutions.
- Guiding and partnering with the 'Developer Community' to define software development standards that can be used by our teams to deliver software which meets security, compliance and other audit requirements without slowing down our software development processes.
Who we're looking for:
- Extensive knowledge of software testing frameworks and strategies is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of CI/CD and associated release strategies is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of Agile software development methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban, is essential.
- Experience of Microservices patterns/ frameworks,
- Technical experience required:
- Application Server: Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), Open Liberty
- Transactional Database: Azure SQL Database
- Core Programming Language : Java 17, Python (Nice to have)
- UI: Angular / CSS / Bootstrap / JSP / Servlets / Java Script / Jquery
- Frameworks: Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud Function
- Integration Platform: Azure API Management
- Integration Protocols used: HTTPS, SOAP, RESTful, IBM MQ, JDBC, CICS Transaction Gateway
- Identity & Access Management: Tivoli Directory Server / LTPA / OAuth2 / ForgeRock
- Batch Scheduler / Compute: Azure Functions
- Source Code Management: Azure DevOps
- Build / Deploy Scripts: Maven, Jython
- CI / CD: Azure Pipelines
- IDE: Eclipse
