    Job Description

    We are currently hiring a Technical Regulatory Consultant to join our team. 

    In this role, you will provide day-to-day support and guidance to individuals and teams, using their experience and understanding to answer technical queries and assist with the handling of complex cases and complaints. 

    You will analyse and advise on errors or operational deficiencies of a technical nature and recommend effective solutions to ensure appropriate standards are met.

    Finally, you will support the delivery of process improvements and appropriate training to ensure regulatory and legislative change compliance and to minimise exposure to risk.

     

    What you'll be doing

    • Providing day-to-day technical and regulatory support:
      • On local day-to-day business processing, products and systems.
      • On the day-to-day content and application of regulatory and legislative frameworks.
      • Delivering advice on day-to-day technical queries and complex issues, liaising with Group Tax and Conduct Risk as necessary.
      • Supporting the day-to-day provision of strategic regulatory guidance and information to projects.
    • Communication:
      • Acting as a point of contact between the local business leadership/staff and the Technical & Regulatory Manager to facilitate two-way communication around regulatory and legislative compliance.
      • Communicating regulatory and legislative updates, including breaches and issues to the senior management team within Retail Annuities as well as upwards to Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Managing Director levels.
      • Distributing guidance, advice and updates prepared by the Technical & Regulatory Manager.
      • Acting as a point of contact for information on regulatory and legislative breaches in Retail Annuities.
      • Acting as a point of escalation for regulatory and legislative breaches identified and be responsible for onward transmission to the Technical & Regulatory Manager.
    • Regulatory Governance reporting:
      • Supporting the Technical & Regulatory Manager through the provision of needed management information.
      • Production and reporting of regulatory and legislative breaches-related management information.
      • Supporting for OSX technical and regulatory attestations.
    • Supporting the provision of training to support regulatory and legislative compliance:
      • Regulatory and legislative requirement training – updates and new entrants.
      • Regulatory and legislative change training.
      • Ongoing regulatory and legislative refresher training.
      • Supporting local business leadership in capability development.
    • Data Analysis:
      • Supporting the Technical & Regulatory Manager with the processing and analysis of figures, facts and information through the use of a range of analytical tools and techniques.
      • Presenting appropriate outcomes and results of analysis to the Technical & Regulatory Manager to allow for the assessment of risks, formation of judgements and development of solutions.
      • Supporting the scheduling and action of the Retail Annuities technical audits.
      • Supporting the scheduling and action of the Retail Annuities Regulatory Control Reviews and presenting the findings of those reviews.

    Qualifications

    What we're looking for

     

    • A working knowledge of the regulations and legislation that Retail Annuities must comply with. e.g. HMRC’s PTM, FCA’s COBS.
    • An understanding of the application of regulations and legislation across Retail Annuities processes.
    • Knowledge of Retail Annuities products, processes, practices and outcomes.
    • Knowledge of Retail Annuities systems and literature.
    • Understanding of L&G breach policies and processes.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate succinctly and influence at senior management levels.
    • Organisational skills
    • Record capture, maintenance and performance reporting skills
    • Judgement and analysis skills
