Are you ready to ensure the smooth operation of cutting-edge data solutions and contribute to the evolution of a modern data platform? We are looking for a proactive Support Engineer to join our innovative Retail Platform Data Ops team. This role is key to monitoring and maintaining the productionised Data Ops solutions that form the foundation of our Retail data estate.
As an essential member of the team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, data delivery, and governance, to ensure the reliability and performance of our data solutions. You will execute processes and controls in line with the Support Strategy and contribute to its continuous improvement.
What you'll be doing:
- Monitoring the productionised data solutions produced by various Data Ops domains, ensuring any issues are promptly addressed and documented
- Contributing to the Support function’s backlog management and prioritisation, carrying out support tasks aligned with business needs
- Communicating issues affecting the availability or accuracy of supported solutions to internal customers and external partners
- Proposing and implementing new standards for existing and new ETL solutions
- Contributing to the Support documentation, ensuring consistency and usability by the wider team
- Using modern Extract Transform Load (ETL) techniques and tools to implement data solutions as needed
- Ensuring all developments follow agreed standards and deployment management processes to drive quality and reduce risk
- Participating in hands-on development when required
Who we're looking for:
- Relevant professional qualifications or experience in data engineering or related specialism
- Knowledge across some domains of data engineering, including ELT/ETL, metadata management, data integration, data management in transit and at rest, and data streaming
- Understanding of Kimball database techniques
- Fundamental understanding of SQL, DDL, DML, and PowerShell
- Familiarity with tools and platforms used by the Engineering Team, such as Wherescape RED & 3D, Snowflake, Postgres, SQL Server, Pebble, Salesforce, Qlik Replicate, and Power BI
- Experience with Service Desk tools such as ServiceNow
- Demonstrates logical and lateral thinking in decision-making
- Clear and logical communication skills, using appropriate language and tools for the audience
