We have an exciting new opportunity for a recruiting for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our engineering team. The post holder will use their engineering skills and experience to ensure the delivery of high quality software across the L&G Group; bring a strategic lens to team operating processes and tooling to improve how we work and ultimately deliver valuable, high quality software to our customers. The ideal candidate will help coach the team and stakeholders to improve the way they work and keep quality at the forefront of everything we do. Open to part time applicants.

What you'll be doing:

• As part of the engineering team ensuring that the features built are high quality as measured against L&G quality standards and are maintainable so that we deliver great outcomes to our customers as effectively as we can.
• Ensuring that the solutions developed and deployed are fit for purpose and providing appropriate business value - with an emphasis on security, usability and accessibility.
• Guiding quality engineering strategy and operations within an engineering team using different techniques and tools to ensure that Legal and General’s high-quality standards are met and appropriately documented and evidenced.
• Providing effective communication to the team, and to any stakeholders interested in the team outcomes, to ensure effective decision making and integration.
• Enthusiastically promoting inspection and adaptation to improve team effectiveness & happiness, supporting changes to enhance processes and culture, to ensure that the team stays happy, productive, efficient.
• Building a culture of mutual respect, collaboration and engagement within the team, coaching, mentoring and supporting less experienced members of the team to develop and grow their skills.
• Undertaking continuous research on relevant application technologies and identifying and implementing opportunities to incorporate those into the quality process as appropriate. Share your research and learning in community forums.
• Helping your team to ensure that all customers and stakeholders are treated fairly in line with Legal & General’s principles on the Customer Experience and Consumer Duty accountability.
• Taking the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.

Who we're looking for:

• Significant experience of working as a quality engineer required.
• A deep understanding of software testing is essential.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and associated release strategies is essential.
• Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban, is essential. 
• Experience across a range of testing techniques including: accessibility; security; E2E; automation.
• Experience of considering all of the relevant factors when developing quality strategy and approaches within a team is essential.
• Experience of working effectively in a team is essential.
• Experience of being a technical leader, mentor or coach is preferable.
