Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Portfolio Test Manager who play a vital role in the delivery of transformation and business growth initiatives of the division. The role holder will drive successful programmes/projects delivery through the creation of innovative test approaches that focus on time to market and customer outcomes.

The ideal candidate will work with the Head of Test & Quality to deliver Test Transformation and help set the future direction of the team. The chose candidate will also show leadership in the use of IT tools to enhance programmes/projects outcomes and the culture of the Test team and be actively involved in recruitment within the Test team.

What you'll be doing

  • Driving the Test Delivery of a Portfolio of complex programmes/projects consisting of multiple technology suppliers and business customers.

  • Creating the test approach that uses appropriate methodologies, tools and resourcing to ensure effective testing via a test coverage that mitigates business risk, and coordinate activities within and across L&G and IT partners to deliver the test strategies, providing expert advice and guidance on test methods, techniques and tools at all stages of the development life cycle with the aim of implementing the best approach to testing.

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance and implement the automation strategy and QA approach for projects including taking ownership of continuous testing, ensuring the tools and training are in place across the software development lifecycle to implement this.

  • Delivering effective & timely communication & reporting to all interested parties including stakeholders and Senior Managers/Execs in order to support and manage the smooth delivery of test activity.

  • Proactively managing third party relationships ensuring that dependencies are identified and managed, and deliverables are achieved, as defined in the project’s Test Approach and without incurring unnecessary cost or delay to the project.

  • Understanding the principles of Business Transformation and is able to translate these principles into business/people change activities and programmes/projects outcomes.

  • Ensuring that the principles of Conduct Risk and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) are embedded into your day to day operations to deliver good customer outcomes at all times. Ensure that all business processes and internal controls within your role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk.

  • Directing and managing the team in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, so that the team’s business objectives are achieved consistently.


Qualifications

  • ISTQB Advanced Test Manager (desired qualification or relevant experience required)
  • A strong understanding of software testing, why it’s important, and how it fits into the software development process is essential.
  • Agile and Scrum
  • Test Driven Development
  • Continuous Testing
  • An understanding of software development processes and frameworks is essential
  • A strong understanding of how we can improve software quality before we start testing is essential
  • An understanding of test automation techniques and tools is essential.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and presentation skills in order to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to self-manage and work in a dynamic environment
  • Management experience including working with Business Analysts and Test Managers / Analysts.
  • The ability to manage and benefit from virtual meetings, with limited reliance on face-to-face meetings
  • Experience of management within a QA/test team is essential
  • Able to demonstrate supportive, communicative, and collaborative approach to working leading a team
  • Previous team management, coaching or people management experience is desirable.
