Portfolio Intelligence Analyst

The Portfolio Intelligence Analyst will will be involved in the monitoring of a number of investment strategies to ensure that they continue to be managed in line with all of their legal and regulatory requirements. The role holder will proactively engage with underlying fund managers across LGIM’s Investment Solutions team and demonstrate a clear understanding of the investment processes and portfolio positioning

The Portfolio Intelligence Analyst will support the team in providing robust quantitative portfolio analytics to better meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders: the Board of Directors, Fund Managers, and Defined Benefit (DB) Solution Strategy Team Management teams.

• Assisting with providing oversight of the fund management of pooled and bespoke risk management solutions funds to ensure consistency of outcomes versus investment objectives
• Developing a deep understanding of LGIM’s Pooled and bespoke risk management solutions business and engaging with underlying fund managers across asset classes and strategies including: LDI, Fixed Income, Synthetic Equity and Credit, FX.
• Reviewing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative analysis and management information to support evaluation of investment activities: building robust quantitative tools to aid all aspects of portfolio analysis to monitor, measure, and attribute portfolio risks and returns
• Communicating complex analysis and sophisticated ideas in a concise and understandable fashion; assisting in providing answers to technical specific queries, to executive management, internal committees and the Board of Directors.
• Understanding upcoming regulatory changes and their implications for fund management: working alongside Risk teams to ensure adequate governance of funds under management.
• Supporting the Board of the Irish entity in discharging its responsibilities through the provision of reporting, insight and challenge on portfolio management activities in the relevant funds and portfolios.
• Providing support to the wider investments team and contributing to the on-going development of the function.
• Considering clients’ portfolio in the context of their objectives and to highlight LGIM capabilities that the client could consider to enhance the efficiency of the portfolio and to better align their investment strategy with their objective. This could relate to a specific area of the portfolio (e.g. LDI, synthetic equity, cash management or cashflow matching across a wider range of credit investments)
• Driving the evolution of the DB Solutions Strategy business offering and servicing across LGIM to better support our clients (for example reporting collateral waterfalls). This may be implemented through being involved in Strategic projects both within Solutions and in cross-team working groups across LGIM.

• This would be a great opportunity for a highly numerate graduate looking for their first role or for someone with experience looking to move into the Asset Management industry 
• Degree educated or equivalent preferably mathematical, actuarial or econometric educational background.
• Pension actuarial knowledge and/or qualification desirable
• CFA charter holder or studying toward CFA desirable
• Highly numerate; advanced Excel and experience with VBA, SQL or Python preferable.
• Derivatives and fixed income knowledge desirable,
• Familiarity with the pensions industry
