Job Description
We’re recruiting for a Funds Tax Risk Manager to work within Group Tax to support the Head of Asset Management Tax on public markets funds matters. Responsibilities include management of tax risk assurance for public markets funds, including regular healthchecks, tax policy maintenance and engaging with operational and product teams. Further responsibilities may include supporting the broader public markets funds tax team with BAU matters for fund launches, tax reporting and reclaims.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the Head of Asset Management Tax on public markets tax risk assurance matters including:
- Implementing and maintaining a regular health check program;
- Reviewing and updating funds tax policies;
- Engaging with operational, legal, compliance and product teams to ensure ownership and knowledge of tax risk areas is maintained;
- Coordinating with external advisors as required;
- Support with administration of funds tax committee; and
- Prepare and collate documentation to support board decisions, committee approvals and tax positions.
- Building relationships with key contacts in the Asset Management division to ensure tax matters are considered appropriately for fund launches/closures/changes, transfers of assets, fund registrations, new investment types.
- Producing technical analysis and documentation on key asset management tax issues for projects and transactions to include UK and international tax issues.
- Keeping business teams updated with key tax developments that are of relevance to them.
- Over time and as required, support on various fund tax compliance & advisory responsibilities including:
- Supporting fund operations teams on compliance matters including SD/SDRT matters and tax documentation;
- Double tax treaty analysis for sponsored funds;
- Management of treaty-based withholding tax relief and claims;
- Management of tax agents, non-resident capital gains tax, financial transactions tax and other local tax compliance matters;
- Investor reporting and fund documentation input and advice;
- Supporting the broader international tax team on Pillar 2 compliance and elections for funds;
- Providing up to date technical advice for UK and overseas tax changes; and Working with the wider tax team as required.
- Collaborating with other members of the Public Markets tax team to share knowledge and cover busy periods or time away from the office.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
- Professional Accounting Qualification (e.g. ACA or ACCA) and/or Taxation qualification (e.g. CTA) with a solid level of post qualification tax experience within a large corporate or practice
- Good understanding of UK and European public markets funds structures
- Good understanding of tax implications, risks and efficiencies relevant to fund set ups.
- Practical experience of operational tax lifecycle of funds.
- Prioritisation, planning and organisation of multi task/person assignments.
- Proactively seeks solutions to problems.
- Ability to progress idea/solution by undertaking extra tasks proactively.
- Builds and develops strong relationships with staff, peers and other contacts within the business and external parties.
- Experience of providing tax advice to fund management teams and be able to explain tax technical issues in a clear and concise way to non-tax experts.
