Job Description

To provide a high quality, controlled and cost-effective process for the Cash Management team activities including the collation and checking of the daily banking/funding processes, the daily controls around the various processes relating to Money In, Money out and ensuring everything is validated at the end-of-day controls.  Be an SME for these processes and assist the Cash Management technicians with any queries from a BAU workload perspective.

What you will be doing:

  • Be the main point of contact for all validation / checking of daily BAU work outputs from the Cash Management technicians. 
  • Verify all processes have been followed and all payments entered correctly for daily/weekly/monthly tasks including the Bank account funding process, Money In & Money Out reconciliations and sign-off the End-of-day reconciliations for the team (list is not exhaustive).
  • Raise any payment issues with the banks directly – ensuring timely completion of any issues found during the day.
  • Escalate any system / payment / file issues found to the relevant IT team, ensuring full knowledge and involvement through to resolution.
  • Take an active role in any Cash Management projects that involve us, ensuring the necessary controls and/or banking guidance from Group Treasury are maintained / enhanced at all times. Assist the management team with any ad-hoc projects, CI initiatives or queries that may arise.
  • Ensure accurate MI is collated and maintained for yourself (timesheets) as well as for the team’s daily / monthly workload volume and divisional data.   
  • Review/completion of procedure notes in line with Group Finance procedures as well as ensuring any audit or divisional queries are managed effectively, professionally and timely.
  • Handle internal queries from staff and external queries from banks via telephone or email in a timely, accurate and professional manner to satisfy the needs of the team / business and/or project.
  • Be the 4th in line PSC (Primary Security Contact) for Bacs in case of any issues or escalations with payments or payment files and liaise with technical teams / business divisions when required.
  • In the absence of the team manager, ensure the daily Cash Management tasks are completed to the standard expected and be the point of contact for any queries or escalations.
  • In the absence of a technician, ensure you are able to assist with the covering of any technician tasks such as daily funding / reconciliations etc.

 


Qualifications

  • Understanding of banking processes / Cash Management processes and online banking platforms is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of the segregation / setup requirements of the banking policy maintained by Group Treasury would be desirable but not essential.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications – particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of the divisional structure within L&G and its dependencies on payments / online banking systems.
  • Good standard of written and verbal communication.
  • Proactively seeks solutions to problems.
  • Clarifies objectives, aims, time-scales and required outcomes.
  • Obtains appropriate factual data to assist in decision-making.
  • Builds and develops strong relationships with external contacts, staff, peers and other contacts within the business.
  • Works with and provides guidance and support to junior team members and other divisional teams.  Assist with the prioritisation, planning and organisation of team’s workloads in the team managers absence.
