Job Description

We’re looking for a Capital Reporting Actuary to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This high-profile role supports the accurate and timely delivery of Solvency UK capital reporting for our Institutional Retirement division.

You’ll interpret complex capital results and communicate them clearly and confidently to the business. You’ll also own key reporting and analytical activities while partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation.

If you want to join a collaborative, purpose-driven team where your actuarial expertise will inform decision-making, support continuous improvement and contribute to long-term financial sustainability. And you enjoy solving complex problems, doing meaningful work and making a difference in a supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a hybrid working opportunity, which means you can split your working week flexibly between your home and our London office in Moorgate, to help you achieve a work-life balance that works for you.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Managing quarterly and ad‑hoc production, validation and analysis of Solvency UK SCR results
    • Validating internal model outputs and investigating key movements; including assessing the impact of model changes, calibrations, stresses and scenarios
    • Collaborating closely with Finance, Risk, Group Actuarial and governance committees to present capital insights
    • Planning and prioritising reporting activities, allocating resources and ensuring delivery timelines are met
    • Supporting process changes that improve the accuracy and efficiency of capital reporting
    • Developing and maintaining robust reporting systems, processes and controls to ensure accuracy and efficiency
    • Supporting wider business needs through the creation of clear, meaningful capital MI and commentary

    Who we're looking for:

    • Qualified Life Actuary with relevant industry experience
    • Strong experience of Solvency UK reporting within life insurance or a closely related environment
    • Strong knowledge of SCR reporting, matching adjustment and/or UK pension risk transfer
    • Ability to apply analytical judgement to review results, identify trends and challenge assumptions
    • Ability to communicate technical insights clearly to stakeholders with varied levels of expertise/knowledge
    • Ability to build collaborative relationships and influence effectively across peers, teams and committees
    • Experience of process review, automation or continuous improvement initiatives
    • Experience using modelling tools such as VBA or R to support analysis and model development
    • A flexible, solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

    • Competitive Salary
    • Generous pension contribution
    • Life assurance
    • Healthcare Plan
    • 27 days holiday, plus public holidays. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
    • Competitive family leave
    • There are the many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
    • We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience

    Additional Information

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all.

If you join us, you’ll be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views, and experiences. Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel.

We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.

Great news! We will let you know when a new job like this has been added!
