Company Description

Legal & General (L&G) is a leading UK financial services group and major global investor.

We’ve been safeguarding people’s financial futures since 1836, and strive to build a better society, while improving the lives of our customers and creating value for shareholders.

We are one of the world’s largest asset managers and provide powerful asset origination capabilities.

Together, these underpin our retirement and protection solutions: we are an international player in pension risk transfer, in UK and US life insurance, and in UK workplace pensions and retirement income.

Who are Asset Management?

We are one of Europe’s largest asset managers and a major global investor across public and private markets, with £1.118 trillion in assets under management.

Asset management is a critical driver of our Group strategy. The business aims to work synergistically with our Institutional Retirement and Retail divisions to benefit our clients and customers, and deliver enhanced shareholder returns.

Our investment philosophy and processes are focused on creating value over the long term. We believe that incorporating financially material sustainability criteria, when relevant to our clients, can create value and drive positive change. This reflects L&G’s purpose: ‘Investing for the long term. Our futures depend on it.’

Job Description

About the L&G Apprenticeship Programme

Looking for an exciting opportunity to earn while you learn?

When you join L&G, you'll become part of our Future Talent community from day one. Our induction will help you settle in, meet other apprentices, learn about the business and discover how you'll contribute.

As you progress through your apprenticeship, you'll be supported by the Future Talent team, your line manager, experienced colleagues and your peers. You'll gain practical experience, learn new skills and apply your learning in a real workplace while working towards a recognised qualification. You'll also have the option to take part in networking and social events, helping you build relationships and grow your network across L&G.

You'll be part of a team, contributing to meaningful work while developing your skills, knowledge and experience.

About the team you’ll join

The Asset Management data team uses data to support planning and decision-making, improve how work is carried out and help deliver positive outcomes for clients and customers. You’ll work with data professionals and colleagues across Asset Management, learning about data analysis, coding, reporting and visualisation while contributing to practical projects and solutions.

What you could be doing in this role

  • Applying learning from workshops and assignments to real business challenges
  • Building your network and learning from your manager, team and wider colleagues
  • Developing your skills in data analysis, coding and data visualisation tools
  • Working with colleagues to understand business questions and data needs
  • Helping to design and deliver analysis, reports and visual insights
  • Supporting the automation of regular data tasks and outputs
  • Explaining findings clearly to colleagues who may not have a technical background
  • Collaborating with data professionals and teams across Asset Management

As your confidence grows, you'll have the opportunity to take on new challenges, build your skills and make a real impact.

We believe that talent comes from many different backgrounds, experiences and ways of thinking. That's why we're committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, respected and supported to be their best. We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every requirement in the advert. We're interested in your strengths, potential and willingness to learn.

Joining L&G is more than starting a job. It's an opportunity to gain valuable experience, achieve a qualification and build the foundations for a rewarding career.

#FutureTalent #FTApprenticeships

Qualifications

You don’t need prior industry experience to apply. We’ll ask you to meet the role requirements, and we’re looking for people who are ready to learn, contribute and keep building the skills that will help them succeed on the programme. These include:

Essential

  • 96 UCAS points from your Level 3 qualifications, for example A levels or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or equivalent
  • Not currently taking another government-funded training course, such as an apprenticeship
  • The right to work in the UK and having lived in the UK or EEA for the past three consecutive years
  • An interest in how data is used in business and the wider world
  • A willingness to learn how to solve problems and improve ways of working
  • Being willing to work with others, share ideas, ask questions and learn from feedback
  • Being willing to develop ways of organising your work and managing different priorities

Benefits

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax-efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are the many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We’re creating net zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in-person experience

We recruit on a rolling basis and expect this vacancy to close before the deadline. To be in with the best chance of securing a role, please submit your application ASAP.  The start date for this role is September 2027

Additional Information

Whatever your role, we reward ability, performance and attitude with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Your hard work will be rewarded when you join us.

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all.

If you join us, you’ll be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views, and experiences. Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel.

We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.

Great news! We will let you know when a new job like this has been added!
