We are are a seeking a talented Product Owner to join our Retail Annuities team. In this role, you will take full ownership of a specific value stream product line mapped to the customer journey, overseeing the entire lifecycle from development to maintenance. You will ensure technology resilience, deliver enhanced value to our customers, and align with Retail’s strategic objectives.
You will create new products while considering cross-functional downstream impacts and implement process improvements using Agile practices and behaviors. As an ambassador for the Product Owner community, you will provide guidance, foster a collaborative environment, promote the value of product ownership, lead agile scrum teams, and mentor other Product Owners.
What you'll be doing:
- Defining and communicating a vision and roadmap that aligns with divisional and organisational strategy, leveraging technology to support the end-to-end product line and ensure resilience and robustness in achieving strategic business objectives.
- Taking ownership of the Backlog, refining and prioritising items to ensure commercial and customer value, aligning with the strategic framework, regulatory compliance, consumer duty, and customer outcomes to drive product line improvements.
- Acting as the primary contact with internal and external stakeholders across the product line, collaborating with the Strategic Chief Product Officer to agree on priorities, set expectations, and communicate progress.
- Managing business readiness plans to ensure smooth and timely delivery from both internal and external perspectives, taking ownership of second-line engagement and approval to drive support for initiatives and solutions that deliver value and strategic objectives.
- Leading the Retail Annuities ART Scrum Team(s) and broader platform teams to ensure the successful delivery of initiatives and solutions through high-quality analysis, development of user stories, robust Quality Assurance pre-implementation, and appropriate levels of Hypercare post-implementation, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery while mitigating risks.
- Tracking benefits delivered to ensure alignment with 5-year plans, taking ownership to measure, demonstrate, and communicate customer, colleague, and commercial business benefits to stakeholders through analytics, business performance MI, customer feedback, and assessing commercial value.
- Managing, motivating, and developing employees in a manner consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, to maximize business performance.
- Regularly reviewing the risks and performance of products/propositions to ensure they meet the needs, characteristics, and objectives of the target market and deliver good customer outcomes.
What we're looking for:
- Qualifications; Product Ownership Level 1 and 2, Agile Framework Qualifications – Scrum and or Safe
- Strong knowledge of: The financial services market and the pensions market and legislative regulatory environment in the UK, L&G Retirement products, processes and supporting technology, L&G Group strategy policies and procedures, and Customer personas.
- Experience working as a Product Owner for big transformational change programmes
- Product management on a large scale, multiple platforms, product/customers
- Data and Customer Insight analyst
- Story Mapping for customer/system/process journeys – User Centred Design
- Budget creation and delivery against business case
- Extensive communicator, comfortable presenting at all levels and varying environment
- Coaching of individuals at varying levels and multitude of skillsets
