Job Description

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 12 MONTH FIXED TERM OPPORTUNITY

We have a fantastic opportunity available within our Retirement Division (LGRI), which will focus on reducing the operational risk associated with LGRI financial processes.

As a Model & Financial Control Actuary you will gain a strong understanding of our finance processes and relevant Group policies which you will leverage to help identify and monitor risk-based activities to reduce the level of associated risk. You will also perform deep dive reviews on processes and models to provide recommendations for improvements and provide insightful MI on the current status of the finance internal control framework and policy compliance to inform decision-making for continuous improvement.

You will also be involved in further embedding IFRS 17 into BAU with the focus on ensuring new processes are effective and well-controlled. As well as helping to improve the risk culture across LGRI through training and being a key point of contact on matters relating to model/EUC risk reduction activities and encouraging open dialogue over the root causes of past issues and risk events. 

This is a hybrid working opportunity, which means you can split your working week flexibly between your home and our London offices to help achieve a work-life balance which suits you.

Qualifications

  • A Qualified Actuary (or equivalent through demonstrable experience).
  • Significant Financial Reporting experience including;
    - Knowledge of the operation of financial controls
    - Knowledge of the insurance industry
    - Knowledge of actuarial concepts (in particular longevity, investments, pricing)
    - Knowledge of actuarial models
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a suitable manner for senior management.
  • Ability to pick up complex ideas quickly.
  • Experience of implementing EUC and model controls.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear concise communication and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to lead by example and demonstrate good coaching skills to the more junior members across the wider Finance team.
