The brand with the brolly is choosing today to change tomorrow. Since 1836, we’ve grown to become one of the world's largest asset managers, homebuilders, pension providers and insurance brands.
We’re all here to improve the lives of our customers, build a better society for the long term, and create value for our shareholders - helping to shape a better future for society and the planet.
We need people who share our ambitions, agility and entrepreneurial spirit to help us do it.
Your role at a glance
Are you looking for a summer internship in Marketing and Communications? One that develops commercial acumen alongside your technical skills?
We’re looking for undergraduates who can answer “yes” to the above for our Summer Internship Programme. You’ll join us in one of L&G’s divisions, gaining valuable insights over the course of the 8-week placement.
Starting 1st July, your internship will last for 8 weeks. This programme is a pipeline for our Graduate Programme (although successful completion of the Summer Programme does not guarantee that a graduate role is available).
Please note, we can only accept 1 application per person across all of our intern programmes. Therefore, please think carefully about the programme you intend to apply for. Your first application will be considered as your only application.
#FutureTalent
You will be assigned to one of our Marketing or Communications teams for your 8-week placement which run throughout July and August. You will also take part in an induction programme designed to introduce you to L&G and help prepare you for the remainder of the internship. Over the course of the internship, you will have the chance to interact with different teams, hear from senior speakers and network with your fellow interns. Some of the day-to-day activities you may experience might include:
- Shadow and work with the senior team to liaise with our subsidiary businesses and senior stakeholders to ensure communications are in line with Legal & General’s broader messaging and we are meeting our corporate objectives.
- To support on execution of external communications strategies, you will take a role in drafting press releases and reviewing measurement.
- Help to produce written materials in the form of press releases, award submissions, case studies, speeches and presentations.
- Lead on the set up of a brand new monitoring platform to support the senior team in its activities
- Monitor forward features and the news agenda across key publications.
- Support for brand strategy, positioning, messaging and design.
- Provide support for an events programme comprising in-person, virtual and hybrid events, including press events and specialist industry, client and L&G conferences.
- With our internal communications team, support structured, proactive and two-way communications across the business through email, video, townhalls and other events.
- Work closely throughout our Marketing and Communications teams to provide administrative support and ensure all activities are aligned and maximised across multiple channels, including proactive and reactive social media channels.
First and foremost, we are looking for people who embody our behaviours:
- Straightforward - doing what we say and saying what we mean
- Collaborative - working together constructively
- Purposeful – working with pace and energy
We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:
- 2:1 Degree (any discipline); however a degree in marketing or a related field would be advantageous)
- You will be in your penultimate year of University (i.e. graduating in 2025)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong attention to detail
- Analytical mind-set
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively; you are someone who thrives in a fast paced environment
- Flexible and a team-player
- Curiosity and an eagerness to learn
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Ideally you will have a passion for the news, the written word and bring a creative approach; able to deliver concise and responsive communications activities in line with the company’s wider strategy.
The role will be based in London and will involve a flexible working approach whereby you split your time between working from home and the office.
Whatever your role, we reward ability, performance and attitude with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Your hard work will be rewarded when you join us.
