As an Initial Risk Underwriter in our Retail Protection team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our customers receive the right cover, tailored to their needs. What you'll be doing:

• Reviewing customer applications to assess life and disability risks
• Deciding on policy terms based on autonomy level and risk factors
• Requesting further information where necessary to support underwriting decisions
• Communicating professionally with customers, colleagues and third parties
• Recording work accurately to support effective decision-making
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements
• Supporting complaint handling by identifying and escalating issues appropriately
• Ensuring customer expectations are met throughout the application journey

Who we're looking for:

• Understanding of risk factors related to mortality and morbidity
• Basic knowledge of protection products such as Life, Critical Illness and Income Protection
• Awareness of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across various platforms
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes
• Ability to assess applications holistically and make balanced decisions
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and outcomes
