Job Description

 

We’re recruiting for a Global Head of Operational Risk - Asset Management to join us. 

You will be responsible for the design and implementation of an operational risk management framework that sets out policies and practices to proactively identify, assess, measure, report and escalate operational risk exposures across Asset Management. 

    What you'll be doing

    • Develop and implement enterprise-wide strategies, methodologies, policy frameworks and practices around operational risk, to help drive risk-aware decision-making, better transparency and better outcomes.
    • Collaborate and consult with business areas to identify current and emerging operational risks and advise on appropriate control design and implementation. 
    • Oversee and challenge the risk management practices and controls within the business areas, ensuring that they are comprehensive and robust. 
    • Monitor the external environment for trends and developments in management of operational risk; such as third party related risks. 
    • Work with the Assurance Operational Risk Advisory and teams to implement key initiatives such as the RCSA framework, analysis of risk events, thematic reviews of risk issues, capital-related operational risk scenarios and deep dive reviews.
    • Ensure that all matters relating to material operational risks are communicated and escalated in a timely and accurate manner and within established governance frameworks.   
    • Oversee the planning and implementation of an appropriate risk assurance programme, ensuring that it is complementary to assurance plans already in place across Asset Management. 
    • Represent Risk in relevant operational, strategic and/or project-based fora, both within Asset Management and L&G Group as required. 
    • Develop close working relationships with senior influencers throughout Asset Management to resolve barriers to achievement of agreed business objectives. Review issue status, prioritise and drive through the changes required, making extensive use of leadership skills, personal expertise and own senior contact network to achieve required outcomes.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

    • Proven track record of successful engagement with senior internal and external stakeholders.
    • Adept at nurturing and promoting effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders – highly collaborative with an outward facing approach.
    • Excellent interpersonal and both report writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to fully participate where senior stakeholders are present.
    • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, ability to use influence and persuasion to resolve differences to a satisfactory resolution.
    • Ability to listen to issues, understanding stakeholder challenges and leverage experience to address/resolve these issues.
    • Excellent presentation skills including the ability to articulate and convey concepts, proposals and propositions to varied internal and external audiences in a clear and compelling manner.
    • Highly organised, able to prioritise and manage conflicting priorities.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Agility with technology and data visualisation
    • Delivery focussed and able to demonstrate the ability to lead a virtual team to meet challenging deadlines.
    • Dynamic individual with outcome-oriented outlook and high resilience.  
    • Ability to assess and generate progressive solutions.

     

    Experience 

    • Experience in the design and implementation of operational risk and control frameworks within the asset management sector. 
    • Knowledge and experience of the key processes of an asset management company.
    • Demonstrated management and leadership capability, including knowledge of effective change management techniques,
    • Able to analyse and think through highly complex issues, but then appropriate execute and implement against a well thought through framework in a seamless manner
    • Proven leadership skills. Promotes and values employee engagement practices.
