Assistant Finance Manager - Expenses

We’re recruiting for an Assistant Finance Manager to join our dynamic Finance team in Cardiff. In this role you will play a key part in managing operational expense processes, with a focus on activities in the UK, Europe and the US.

You will proactively engage with business partners, management and other stakeholders to provide analysis of expense activities & trends and also support the wider expense activities of the international entities, including the processing of payroll and taxes. 

What you'll be doing:

• Preparing and posting expense accruals and journals for centralised Asset Management expenses and liaising with other members of L&G Asset Management’s Finance team to ensure that the journals are booked on a timely basis.
• Continually reviewing and amending existing reporting processes and outputs to optimise the effectiveness and efficiency of our reporting.
• Managing expense activities for the US and European operations and entities.
• Managing the fixed asset register.
• Processing and accounting for international payroll and taxes. Which will include engaging with Group Tax for VAT, Corporate Tax, Payroll Taxes and Transfer Pricing.
• Managing the provision of timely, accurate and informative management reporting to internal customers and stakeholders relating to headcount and employee costs, including providing insight around emerging trends to facilitate optimal business performance.
• Processing payments for L&G Asset Management subsidiaries, including preparing and reviewing related journals and maintaining payment logs. 
• Providing detailed expense analysis, including insight into monthly variances.
• Assisting in the provision of responses to queries from stakeholders across the L&G Group, ensuring that they are delivered in accordance with the requested specifications and deadlines.
• Managing one direct report.

Who we're looking for:

• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc.)
• Understanding of accounting processes and principles
• Good IT skills - specifically MS Excel
• Experience of working with accounting systems (with SUN and Oracle experience being desirable)
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports and documentation
• A good team player, with high levels of resilience
• Delivery focused, with the ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate high attention to detail
• Experience of working within a UK financial services organisation
