Your role at a glance

Would you like the opportunity work for the number one provider of Individual Protection products in a fast-paced Business Development role?

If you have strong Sales experience, excellent relationship management skills, and an impressive knowledge of Individual Protection products (life, income protection, critical illness) then this is a fantastic opportunity to join our Intermediary Sales team as a Telephone Business Development Manager on a 12-month FTC.

In this exciting and varied role, you’ll identify, develop, and manage relationships within a defined geographical area to deliver sales, quality and profitability targets across all Insurance products and propositions, cost effectively and ethically. You’ll have the opportunity to do this by delivering agreed business development plans and individual key account strategic plans within your region.

What you'll be doing

  • To achieve agreed account performance targets, through building business relationships at all levels with allocated accounts and market share across a range of products and propositions to achieve objectives, maintains or increases market share across the Individual Insurance product range.
  • To establish, define and maintain a business plan to drive account development, relationship management and product promotion, through a developed contact strategy across an account panel of (<250>), demonstrating sound fact-finding skills throughout, so that business opportunities are maximized, and targets are achieved.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, in both verbal and written form, influencing account strategy development by collating and feeding market intelligence to your accounts and colleagues so that relationships are commercially beneficial.
  • To work in an effective partnership with all colleagues in Intermediated Division and across the wider Legal & General business, so that your business plan and contact strategy is implemented and mutual support is delivered to ensure accounts’ needs and expectations are met and exceeded wherever possible.
  • Respond to and take ownership of pre submission related enquiries, ensuring accounts are furnished with the information needed to fulfil their enquiry, providing them and any other colleagues involved, with information and details of any follow up action required where appropriate, to ensure all opportunities are maximised.
  • To maintain a high level of knowledge of competitor and own products and propositions, as well as industry and marketplace awareness so you deliver a superior, expert and quality interface with your account panel.
  • Interact with accounts, and handle any customer complaints in difficult and sensitive situations with sympathy and empathy to resolve customer queries

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role you’ll need to be a pro-active and forward-thinking Sales professional, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You’ll need excellent relationship management ability with strong communication skills, a strong resilience, and adaptability. Collaboration with the team will be key, as well as the ability to be a self-starter that can work autonomously.

Here’s some of the experience that we’d love to see:

  • Experience working in a Sales/Business Development/Relationship Management role.
  • Impressive knowledge of Individual Protection products (Life Insurance, Income Protection, Critical Illness)
  • Understand market conditions to maximise all profitable business opportunities.
  • Understand our products and propositions and how they fit in the process to maximise business opportunities.
