Job Description

Your role at a glance

Would you like the opportunity to be a HR Business Partner for one of Europe’s largest Asset Managers?

If you are a seasoned HR Business Partner, with experience partnering with senior stakeholders from either Tech, Data, or Operations business areas, then this is a fantastic opportunity to join the Legal and General Investment Management (LGIM) team.

Reporting into the Senior HRBP for LGIM, Global Chief Operating Office, (GCOO) and based in London on a hybrid working arrangement, you’ll partner a varied client group (incl. Digital and Technology, Data and Investment Operations) in the UK and overseas (primarily.US) to develop, influence, lead and deliver all HR priorities. In your role you’ll deliver with the strong engagement, collaboration, and support from the broader UK and US-based LGIM HR teams, Group HR functions, and tax, legal and policy specialist support.

What you'll be doing

Strategy & Planning

  • Support the Senior HRBP in driving the development and implementation of the HR Priorities to enable LGIM’s Strategic Pillars (Modernise, Diversify, Internationalise).
  • Actively participate and/or lead activities that include talent management and development, organisational design, performance and employee development, reward and pay review, strategic workforce and capability planning, employee relations and policy development and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Actively contribute to LGIM’s HR strategy and its implementation. And support the delivery of L&G organisation-wide HR priorities, in support of the overall HR offering to business.
  • Proactively identify, analyse and interpret ‘people’ related MI to solution and influence HR
  • Lead and deliver comprehensive leadership, talent and development strategies that support the identification, development and retention of talent, optimal levels capability and strong leadership and succession in the business.

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

  • Influence, challenge and pro-actively support business leadership teams on all aspects of people and organisational development and contribute to their business plans. And use skills of judgement and risk assessment in this support.
  • Build strong relationships with the business where the HRBP role is established as a contributing member, adding significant value to the business strategy.
  • Builds strong relationships within LGIM HR and across both Group HR functions and L&G HR functions.
  • Encourage co-operation and communication within peer group and across teams and shares key initiatives to drive corporate goals in and across LGIM, Group HR functions and L&G HR functions.

Service Delivery Excellence

  • Keep abreast of the recruitment activity and be actively involved in key senior hiring, influencing the selection process and methodologies adopted. Working with Finance partners, manage the resource planning and provide input into the annual budget, ensuring balance between cost efficiencies, organizational requirements and optimal performance.
  • Facilitate talent management activities aligned with LGIM defined framework, and ensure all managers are equipped to engage, develop and retain their talent, and have robust succession planning in place.
  • Lead on people related organisational change requirements, in partnership with Group Employee Relations and the union, Unite, where relevant.
  • Ensure Employee Relations climate is understood within the Business area and local jurisdictions. Work closely with Unite (in the UK), local reps and managers to champion and demonstrate working in partnership and its benefits.
  • Facilitate the annual pay and promotions process as per LGIM’s Reward framework.
  • Facilitate the annual performance management and development planning process, and ensure all managers are equipped with the appropriate skills to review performance, set objectives and enable development and career progression.
  • Proactively drive the maturation of line management capability and use of HR systems, processes, policies and support teams to enable great employee experiences.
  • Support all employee engagement activities such as employee surveys and partner business to review and agree key learnings and actions.
  • Lead BU HR projects or people change management work as directed by the Senior HRBP e.g. restructures, mergers, acquisitions.
  • Assists with the development of reward strategies for the business area, with the support of the Reward Consultant.
  • Work with the LGIM L&D team to identify and deliver core L&D requirements for BU to develop organizational capability.
  • Support HR policies and frameworks and ensure BU engagement with them, or challenge if policies and frameworks are not fit for purpose/need changing.
  • Work pro-actively and collaboratively the HR Business Partners across the wider LGIM HR team on team projects. And work collaboratively with the wider L&G/Group HR teams on centrally led activities as and when required.
  • Provide guidance and cost-effective HR solutions to the business aligned to LGIM financial budget and relevant policies.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you’ll be hard-working, resilient, a stickler for detail and data accuracy, and enjoy supporting large and multi-disciplinary business functions. You’ll leverage your skills and prior experience to apply HR commercial solutions to a variety of both project and cyclical HR activities, and execute with a high degree of collaboration and excellent stakeholder engagement.

Here’s some of the experience and skills that we’d love to see:

  • Understanding of UK employment law and generic HR policies and procedures is essential.
  • Understanding of TUPE and experience of the people aspects of mergers and acquisition is preferred.
  • Financial Services industry knowledge and experience is preferred, and ideally within Asset Management and supporting Technology, Data and/or Operations teams.
  • Proven experience of leading organisational change with a focus on talent management, organisation design, global leadership and operating models.
  • Proven experience of designing, leading and executing HR projects using project management techniques.
  • Proven experience of influencing senior leadership teams on HR matters and linking this to business strategy.
  • Proven experience of providing effective HR partnerships with business and HR COEs with an awareness of the different challenges that are faced.
  • Understanding of a range of organisational development techniques to drive engagement, business performance and culture change. 
  • Capability to source, gather, analyse and interpret business focused HR data to enable effective decision making.
  • Experience of working in a matrix organisation across multiple international jurisdictions is required. Experience in partnering global teams across UK, Europe, US and Asia is preferred.
