We’re recruiting for a Finance Analyst Lead to join our Investment Management business in Cardiff. 

This role is designed to deputise in the absence of the G4 Client Money Manager by leading the team. It involves specialising in one or more work streams and taking the lead in preparing and authorising daily client money funding calculations, client money and bank account reconciliations, and associated procedures to ensure customers’ money is protected both before investment into their chosen product and when returned to them. The role also requires demonstrating behaviours appropriate to a grade 3 role and ensuring compliance with CASS and FCA regulations, Asset Management standards, and L&G policies and procedures.

What you will be doing

• Specialise and take the lead in an area of expertise within the team, providing support and advice to colleagues in this and other areas of work during regular operations, and deputize in the absence of the work stream manager
• Preparation of the reporting and MI required for internal and external regulatory reporting, audit, and compliance
• Understand the FCA and CASS rules governing client money treatment, calculations, and reconciliations, maintain knowledge to ensure compliance and authorise client money calculations, reconciliations and cash transfers
• Collaborate with the Finance Operations Project Team to ensure that the design and implementation of business changes adhere to the established change process
• Foster and sustain strong working relationships and communication with other departments to ensure the implementation of efficient processes and procedures
• Ensure that the appropriate MI, process, and systems are in place to provide support to other business areas so that customers are treated fairly, in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy (TCF)

Who we're looking for:

• Investment Operations Certificate (IOC) levels 1 compulsory, levels 2 and 3, desirable
• Knowledge of the end-to-end operational processes in the job holder’s area of expertise, and the impacts on the general ledger and client money reconciliation. 
• Knowledge of operational and banking systems, functions and processes and their impacts on client accounts. 
• Have an understanding of L&Gs products and funds and the related operational processes. 
• Have an understanding of methods of reconciliation and data analysis
• May have previous management experience or aspires to people management and can demonstrate behaviours appropriate to the role.
• Can work independently and lead and advise the team in the absence of the line manager, understands role, is self-starting, technically competent and motivated, with specific process expertise.
• Understands the structure and make-up of the client money calculation and how these interact with operational processes, the general ledger, information, and databases.
• Previous experience in a technical accounting/information role and excellent numeracy, investigation, and financial problem-solving skills.
