Your role at a glance
Would you like the opportunity to lead a Procurement Operations team in a FTSE 100 business?
If you have extensive experience in Procurement Operations and in-depth knowledge of the request-to-pay process this could be the role for you. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent people management skills, to join our evolving Procurement function as Procurement Operations Manager.
In this exciting role you’ll lead Group Procurement Operations and ensure operations and systems supporting the procurement team and business buying activities across the group are effectively deployed and fit for purpose in line with needs, policy, risk appetites and regulation. This will include prioritising a positive customer experience and ensuring our systems and processes are effectively monitored and executed to a high quality and at the right time.

What you'll be doing
- Lead a team of 8-12 procurement professionals to deliver a high-quality service to the business and stakeholders
- Review, define and implement best-in-class procurement processes, policies, procedures, and workflows in coordination with S2C and SRM to deliver maximum benefit to users and ensure they are operating within the risk guidelines of Legal & General
- Drive internal adoption and compliance of processes, standards, and best practices through effective change management to ensure a consistent service offering ensuring standardisation across business units and teams
- Ensure data is accurately and timely captured in relevant systems and reporting is consistent, timely and accurate for management insight and decision making
- Drive continuous improvement in the technology infrastructure and process, ensuring the systems are fully operational, utilized and leveraged across the organization to make the process more efficient
- Manage all Procurement systems and vendors ensuring continuity of system availability and system controls are effective including user profile management in line with the IT target operating model and any applicable policies
- Proactively support and work with Accounts Payable team to ensure a robust and highly efficient and effective P2P process with best-in-class PO exceptions and PO penetration
- To take the lead in all matters regarding the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.
- In all situations where suppliers provide goods and services directly to our external customers, ensure that procurement activity and supplier relationships are managed in line with Legal & General’s Consumer Duty commitments.
What we're looking for
To be successful in this role, you’ll be a curious, growth minded, and motivational Procurement leader, with excellent people management skills, with the ability to empower a team. Your communication and stakeholder management skills will also be key as you look to collaborate and influence ay a variety of levels across the business.
Here’s some of the experience and skills that we’d love to see:
- Extensive experience and knowledge of Procurement, ideally gained in a Procurement Operations team.
- Ability to set-up continuous improvement, process management and technology management
- Ability to build consensus, influence stakeholders, and gain credible buy-in at all levels and functions of the company
- Experience of running operational process within a regulatory control environment
- Executive presence, leadership skills to achieve meaningful outcomes with business partnering and adaptability to support evolving regulatory needs
- Intellectual leadership and in-depth knowledge of Request to pay processes, tools and systems in the context of a financial institution
