Job Description

We are hiring an Assistant Finance Manager to join the Finance Team of our Asset Management Division. In this role you’ll play a key part in managing operational expense processes, supporting activities in the UK as well as international subsidiaries in the US, Europe and Asia.

You will also proactively engage with business partners, management and other stakeholders to provide analysis on expense activities and trends, as well as supporting the expense activities of the international entities, including payroll and taxes.

The role involves a busy month end period which will require strong time management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. 

This is a hybrid working opportunity which will allow you to work from both our Central Cardiff Office, as well as your home to get that work-life balance we all desire.

What you'll be doing:

  • Preparing and posting expense accruals and journals for centralised Asset Management expenses and liaising with other members of the Finance team to ensure that the journals are booked on a timely basis.
  • Continually reviewing and amending existing reporting processes and outputs to optimise the effectiveness and efficiency of reporting.
  • Managing the provision of timely, accurate and informative management reporting to internal customers and stakeholders relating to headcount and employee costs, providing insight around emerging trends to facilitate optimal business performance.
  • Processing payments for Asset Management subsidiaries, including the preparation and review of related journals and the maintenance of payment logs. 
  • Providing detailed expense analysis to include insight into monthly variances.
  • Assisting in the provision of responses to queries from stakeholders across the L&G Group, ensuring they are delivered in accordance with the requested specifications and deadlines.
  • Processing and accounting for payroll and taxes.
  • Engaging with Group Tax for VAT, Corporation Tax, Payroll Taxes and Transfer Pricing.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Qualified Accountant (under ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc.)
  • An understanding of accounting processes and principles
  • Good IT skills – specifically MS Excel
  • Experience in working with accounting systems (with SUN and Oracle experience desirable)
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports and documents
  • A good team player, with high levels of resilience
  • Must be delivery focused and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate a high attention to detail
  • Experience of working within a UK financial services organisation
